AI threatens Iconfactory’s design business
Long‑time design and development studio the Iconfactory is selling several of its apps and intellectual‑property packages. Co‑founder Ged Maheux and developer Sean Heber said generative AI services like ChatGPT have drastically reduced demand for custom icons and app‑design work. Heber explained that AI‑driven “vibe coding” lets developers generate app icons and interfaces in minutes, undermining professional design services, and that the 2023 shutdown of Twitterrific compounded financial strain. The company will focus on remaining apps like Tapestry, Linea Sketch and Wallaroo.
